Matt Simpkins' mother clarifies reclassification
Matt Simpkins didn't get to enjoy his emergence onto the national recruiting scene long before rumors of his academics overshadowed his talent and athletic ability, of which he has plenty.
Simpkins, one of Arizona's top recruiting targets regardless of age, recently reclassified from the class of 2007 to 2008. However, his ability to reclassify has been questioned publicly so his mother, Tanya Brown, took the time to address the issue.
"Matt is in a private school (Capital Christian) and was able to be reclassified as a 10th grader," said Brown. "The request was put in and it was approved. Matt is a true sophomore and his next grade would be at the 11th grade at any school he goes to."
