Harrison Smith ready to compete
Gerry Hamilton
Orangebloods.com Harrison Smith lit up the Houston area as a senior for Jones, averaging 31.2 points per game, including 37 in a season-ending loss in the playoffs to state semi-finalist Angleton. The 37-points scored capped off of a season in which Smith scored 30-points or more in 13 of 22 games, including 35 or more in seven games. Smith is working to be known as more than a prolific scorer in the off-season. Smith talks off-season workouts and much more in a question and answer.
What are you doing in the off-season to get ready for the next level?
I'm running, lifting weights and some individual work with Byron Smith (ex-Houston Cougar guard and coach of the Houston Swoosh).
What exactly does your weight work out and individual workout consist of?
I work out on upper and lower body. I do what the Jones football coaches tell me to do. The individual workouts are ball handling, a lot of jump shots and working off of screens. I'm working to improve in those areas.
What did you do best as a senior for the Falcons?
I shot the ball well and led the team well because we were a young team. Really, getting people involved and scoring.
