Hummel absorbing coaching changes
Mike Pegram
Peegs.com If there has been a prospect most consistently linked with Indiana from the Class of 2007, it would be 6-foot-8 Valparaiso forward Robbie Hummel. The versatile player is currently ranked #60 in the Rivals100 for that junior class. Therefore it should come as no surprise that new Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson has already tried to get in contact with the young recruit.
"Coach Sampson called my house and talked to my dad and my mom and I am suppose to call Coach (Jeff) Meyer tonight but I got his voice mail," said Hummel.
Meyer is a former Missouri assistant that has not been officially announced as a new member of Sampson's staff but such an announcement is expected soon. He has Indiana ties since he coached from 2001-04 at Butler and is a Taylor University graduate.
Hummel has had a positive reaction to the news of Sampson taking the reigns in Bloomington.
"From what I hear it sounds like a really good thing," said Hummel. "Coach Sampson sounds like he is a proven winner and a pretty good guy. I have only heard good things about him."
