Robinson will visit Tech
Eastland (Texas) power forward Forrest Robinson will be in Lubbock this weekend to take in Texas Tech's game against Oklahoma State. The trip to West Texas will be Robinson's third, and this one will come as the first official visit that he's taken.
"Over time I haven't talked to them as much as I have in the past, but there is definitely still interest there for me with Texas Tech. I like the program and a lot of my guys go to Tech, so it's a place I'm pretty familiar with," Robinson said. "I'm good friends with Marshall Henderson so there's already a connection there. I just think that it's a good school, in-state, pretty close to home, so I wanted to take an official to see it again. They've been after me for a while, so I'm really trying to figure some things out about them on this trip."
Robinson will be visiting the South Plains with his parents in tow. He says they'll be an integral part of his decision making process when it comes time to pull the trigger on a commitment.
"I'm going to bring my mom and dad," he said. "It'll be their first time to see the school up close. My parents are going to be a big part of my decision when it happens, so I've got to get them on board with whatever program I'm feeling."
With Texas Tech's 2011 class filling up quickly, one may assume that Robinson would feel some pressure to make a decision sooner, rather than later. Apparently this hasn't affected the 6-foot-9. 210-pound prospect. Is he feeling pressure to make a decision soon?
"None at all."
Robinson has built a relationship with Tech assistant coach Bubba Jennings over the past few months, and he mentioned him as someone who gives a great look at what it would be like to be at Texas Tech.
"Bubba Jennings is the guy I've talked to the most there," he said. "I've got a really good relationship with Coach Jennings. He's a cool guy, and he's been a Red Raider forever so he knows what it's like to live there and go to school there. I've been talking to him for a while now, so we're pretty comfortable with each other."
Aside from Texas Tech, Robinson says that he's hearing from Houston, Virginia, Texas, and USC the most. It sounds like he's almost evenly split on whether or not he'll sign next month, or wait until the later signing period next spring.
"Right now, I'd say that I'm about 55-45 in favor of signing later. I've got a lot of great options and I want to make sure I've really taken a look at them all before I sign."
Aside from Texas Tech, Robinsons also holds offers from Arkansas, Centenary, Houston, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Oklahoma State, and Utah.
