Undermanned Mustangs fall to King James in GR
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. It was a battle of attrition and in the end, with just seven players in uniform, the Michigan Mustangs were worn down by the deep and talented King James Shooting Stars in the semifinals of the 17-under division at the Grand Rapids Storm Classic tournament April 16-18.
The Storm, playing without LaDontae Henton and Patrick Lucas-Perry who were out with injury and without Matt Poches the last two days of the tournament, fell to the Shooting Stars 45-31 in Sunday's semifinal game.
The semifinal contest featured a number of players who are on the 2011 recruiting radar of Michigan State. Suttons Bay guard Dwaun Anderson, a leading candidate for the 2001 Mr. Basketball Award, was an iron man and human highlight film for the Mustangs both on Sunday and over the course of the three-day tournament.
